Kyle Lowry will remain a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the point guard has signed a one-year deal that keeps him with the Pennsylvania franchise at a veteran minimum salary worth $3.3 million.

Woj adds that Lowry considered joining other title contenders, but negotiations with Daryl Morey gained momentum last week and resulted in this deal. Now Kyle will try to help a promising 76ers squad finally reach the top, using his veteran savvy, sacrifice, and knack for clutch plays to be decisive when it counts.

Philadelphia acquired Lowry after he was traded from Miami to the Hornets, who chose to waive him and let him pick a new destination. That’s when he arrived in Philly, logging 23 regular-season games and six playoff contests, where he averaged 7.8 points and 4.5 assists. Those numbers don’t reflect many of the intangibles he brings on the court. He’s the kind of player who’s a nuisance to face and is always willing to sacrifice for the team, which could be a huge asset for Nick Nurse when the stakes rise.

With this move, the franchise completes one of its most loaded rosters since Joel Embiid became the centerpiece. They’ve surrounded him with an emerging star like Tyrese Maxey, an established star like Paul George, and a group of role players that now includes Lowry at this stage of his career. Is this finally the year?
