Young guard Jeremiah Fears led the New Orleans Pelicans to their first win of the season.
The side coached by Jamahl Mosley beat the Sacramento Kings comfortably, 132-120.
Fears stood out with 22 points, 13 assists (a new NBA record) and 8 rebounds, coming up just short of a triple-double.
Seven Pelicans players scored in double figures, including their entire starting five.
Last night they were without Dejounte Murray, who has become a father, and Jordan Poole, who is suffering with a sprained ankle.
- Herbert Jones: 16 points
- Zion Williamson: 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals
- Trey Murphy III: 19 points
- Karlo Matkovic: 12 points
- Saddiq Bey: 10 points
- Ben Mathurin: 10 points
The Kings, who continue to slide downhill with no brakes, are the only team in the West yet to taste victory at the start of this season (0-5).
Rookie Darius Acuff Jr. was their standout with 34 points, 14 assists and six rebounds.
De’Andre Hunter and Precious Achiuwa added 24 points each, and Domantas Sabonis finished with 9 points, 15 rebounds and 7 assists.
Turnovers proved costly for Doug Christie’s side, with 25 in total. Sabonis had seven and rookie Acuff Jr. six.
