The Philadelphia 76ers continue to complete the roster with which they will arrive at the start of the training campThe Pennsylvania franchise has announced the signings of Judah Mintz and Max Fielder, who participated with the team in the Las Vegas Summer League and will now have the opportunity to fight for a spot on the final roster.
The 76ers currently have 13 players under guaranteed contracts for next season, leaving two spots open for both to fight over. Ricky Council IV appears to be the favorite to fill one of those spots given that he signed a four-year contract in April, but it doesn't become guaranteed until Oct. 1, so the franchise may still have to make a decision on that, as well as the final roster spot, which could go to one of the new additions or become free for a future signing.
Both Mintz and Fielder concluded their relatively separate college years this year. Judah, who spent two years at Syracuse University, averaged 18,8 points and 4,4 assists this past season, while Max completed five years at Rice University, the last of which he averaged 9,3 points and 5,3 assists. This earned them both a draft pick by the 76ers for the Summer League, where they were able to get their first taste of the team.
In the tournament, Mintz had a prominent role on the team, scoring 12,4 points in 22 minutes, while Fielder had a more limited presence and did not average more than 2. However, the franchise has shown interest in both, who will join together for the preseason and we will see if they manage to extend their stay.
