{"id":630,"date":"2026-10-28T09:35:42","date_gmt":"2026-10-28T08:35:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nbamaniacs.com\/en\/?p=630"},"modified":"2026-10-28T16:16:33","modified_gmt":"2026-10-28T16:16:33","slug":"knicks-finally-win-first-game-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nbamaniacs.com\/en\/knicks-finally-win-first-game-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Knicks finally get their first win of the season"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The New York Knicks claimed their first win of the season by beating the Detroit Pistons 111-97 at Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The side coached by Mike Brown broke last season&#8217;s negative trend, when they lost their series against Detroit <strong>3-0<\/strong> with an aggregate differential of -26 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victory calmed things down a little in New York despite a lack of sparkle in their play, and the poor shooting of Jalen Brunson, who finished the game 5\/18 from the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We just have to keep making the easy shots,&#8221; admitted the Knicks captain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;It&#8217;s about getting to the rim, scoring the easy baskets and focusing on the small details until we find our rhythm,&#8221; he acknowledged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"New York Knicks Defeat the Detroit Pistons | October 27, 2026\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xVPxWe7yimk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Knicks overwhelmed the visitors across the second and third quarters with a 63-25 run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During that spell they recalled the championship-calibre team that racked up 13 consecutive victories during the post-season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was also a plus point for Mikal Bridges, who hit his first three-pointer after going scoreless on his previous three. He finished 4\/8 from long range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Overall we had good moments during the game that allowed us to beat them,&#8221; said Mike Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Our focus and our intensity on Detroit&#8217;s shooters were much better than in the previous game,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Towns steps up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Regardless of all the fuss over his new contract, Karl Anthony-Towns performed at the level expected of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dominican big man stepped up against Paul Reed to <strong>notch his 14th 20-20 game in the NBA<\/strong> and his fourth as a <em>Knickerbocker<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At half-time Brown asked him for more intensity on defence and on the boards against Reed, who is currently filling in for the injured Jalen Duren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;To be honest, I told him: this guy is destroying us on the boards. Every time he grabs one, he shoots again. If he receives it on the perimeter, you have to guard him tightly,&#8221; Brown stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;And he did that. Far from it. Actually, nothing is solved. What tonight showed is that we are more than capable if we put our minds to it. And that&#8217;s the foundation we should keep building on,&#8221; concluded Mike Brown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other standouts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cunningham<\/strong>: 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paul Reed<\/strong>: 22 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Duncan Robinson<\/strong>: 12 points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Brunson<\/strong>: 23 points and 7 assists.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>O.G.
