{"id":878,"date":"2026-11-04T10:01:35","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T09:01:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nbamaniacs.com\/en\/?p=878"},"modified":"2026-11-06T04:56:40","modified_gmt":"2026-11-06T04:56:40","slug":"santi-aldama-ready-to-get-going-dallas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nbamaniacs.com\/en\/santi-aldama-ready-to-get-going-dallas\/","title":{"rendered":"Santi Aldama ready to get going at Dallas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After years of good basketball with the Memphis Grizzlies, Santi Aldama is now ready to take his first steps as a Dallas Mavericks player, the team he joined via a trade at the start of July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Spanish player has recovered from the surgery he had to undergo in the spring for a right knee injury, and the Texas franchise has listed him as questionable for the game they are due to play overnight away to the San Antonio Spurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the Canary Islander, this is a key moment in his career. It is true that at the Grizzlies he established himself as a key piece, to the point of re-signing in 2025 for three years and $52.5m; however, he is now part of a project from which a great deal is expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nbamaniacs.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/santi-aldama.jpg\" alt=\"Santi Aldama arrives in Dallas\" class=\"wp-image-431090\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg as team-mates, Santi&#8217;s job is to contribute so that a side that has begun the 2026-27 NBA season well \u2013 they are 4-3 \u2013 can at least maintain that form and stay in the hunt for a playoff place. How much will he play? Only his coach, Dusty May, knows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Santi Aldama, an established piece in the NBA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is the reality for the Spanish player. Earning ever more prominence with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/grizzlies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grizzlies<\/a>, Aldama finished last season averaging 14 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists, while also shooting 35 per cent from three-point range. In total he has now played 278 regular-season games and 10 in the playoffs.
