Brandon Miller looks every inch a star

Brandon Miller is showing glimpses of the NBA superstar he could become.

Last night against Washington he showed why Charlotte backed him with a five-year, $209 million extension.

Miller set a new NBA career scoring high with 39 points in the 110-103 win over Washington, which leaves them at 3-1 to start the season.

He also contributed 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 steals, shooting 15 of 28 from the field and 5 of 10 from three.

“We’re a team that tries to push the pace of our game,” he said.

“I think we did a good job of that tonight. We managed to open up the defence and attack the matchups we wanted,” he added.

Miller hit a key mid-range jump shot in the final minute, along with two free throws.

With his performance against the capital side, he made NBA history by becoming the second-fastest player to reach 500 career three-pointers, achieving the milestone in just 170 games.

His teammate Naz Reid added 18 points and 12 rebounds, while veteran Grayson Allen contributed 15 points off the bench.

It should be noted that Charlotte managed just 1 of 11 from three in the first quarter. However, they gained momentum in the second, hitting 6 of 11 attempts.

They finished the game shooting 43% from the field and 31% from three-point range.

For Washington, only star player Anthony Davis put up much resistance, finishing with 29 points, 10 rebounds and a steal on 11-of-22 shooting.

“It makes me smile every time my teammates trust me. But at the same time I know I also have to trust them,” Miller concluded.
