The Memphis Grizzlies are facing a new and exciting start, especially as their big draft bet, Cameron Boozer, is already showing that they not only made no mistake, but that he is made of the stuff needed to become a star in the NBA.
The 19-year-old Duke product took a beating on opening night, but far from struggling in the next game, he has made clear that he has the character (and talent) to bounce back; so much so that he was the best player in the 108-111 win over the Golden State Warriors.
Playing 37 minutes on the floor, the forward finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals to lead the Tennessee side, who, by the way, are surprising everyone with two wins from as many games.
It is obvious that this has only just begun, but seeing Boozer highlight the potential that was expected of him is huge news for a Grizzlies side that for the first time in years are without Ja Morant, whom they traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. Here is how the new idol in Memphis goes about his business.
The No. 3 pick from the last draft has arrived to be the emblem of the Grizzlies’ rebuild and although nobody is asking him to win games from day one, watching that determination and energy on the court makes you think big. Are we overreacting? Perhaps, but now is the time to do it.
