NBA roundup of the 8 games on the 24 October 2026 slate.
Charlotte Hornets 115-110 Miami Heat
We start with one of the surprises of the night. It is true that the Miami Heat of Giannis Antetokounmpo have not started well, but it is equally true that the trip to Charlotte looked promising for getting off the ground.
They could not. With the Greek on court for only 25 minutes due to foul trouble, and despite coming back from a deficit of as much as 22 points, the Florida side ultimately could not overcome Brandon Miller’s 34 points or Grayson Allen’s late push.
The 0-3 start leaves the Florida side in last place in the Eastern Conference with a net rating of -15.7… There is a long way to go, but they need to wake up soon.
Cleveland Cavaliers 125-121 Brooklyn Nets
The Cavaliers already know what it is like to win at the expense of Jordi Fernández’s Nets. Thanks to a very strong first half (15 points up), the Ohio side managed the game without much trouble despite the late rally from the New Yorkers.
The best home player was Evan Mobley with a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Donovan Mitchell finished with 22 points. The best thing about these Cavs is that they do not depend on one player; the team imposes its will as a unit.
Things went worse for Brooklyn, who again enjoyed big performances from Michael Porter Jr. (28 points) and Julius Randle (23), but fell well short of the win.
Philadelphia 76ers 127-116 Milwaukee Bucks
LeBron James is out? No problem. These Philadelphia 76ers are built on such excellence that losing one of their big stars for a day should mean nothing, even if that star is the King himself.
In his absence, Joel Embiid shone brightly with a triple-double of 28 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, fantastically supported by Jaylen Brown’s 27 points and Tyrese Maxey’s 26.
The Pennsylvania side moves to 3-0 and leaves the Bucks at 0-3, a team that looks very poor and could spend the entire campaign in the basement of the standings.
Chicago Bulls 120-124 Washington Wizards
The Trae Young-Anthony Davis partnership keeps adding wins. Not everyone trusts this project, and add to that the fact that La Ceja’s contract expires in a few months, but the reality is that they have won two of three and look set to fight for a direct playoff spot.
As for the game against the Chicago Bulls, it was all but settled in a third quarter in which the capital side destroyed their opponent with a 20-40 run, while Young put together a very strong performance with 25 points and 9 assists.
Despite the defeat, Illinois is buzzing about its rookie, Caleb Wilson, whose 30 points and 14 rebounds suggest he could be the Bulls’ franchise player for a long time.
Dallas Mavericks 106-122 San Antonio Spurs
And the first win for the San Antonio Spurs has arrived. Unable to pull away on the scoreboard for three quarters, Victor Wembanyama and company ultimately imposed their will on a Mavs side without Kyrie Irving or Cooper Flagg.
The French big man was the best of his side with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks, while in Dallas Spaniard Sergio de Larrea stood out greatly, reaching 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in his third game as an NBA rookie.
Meanwhile, Cooper Flagg has been diagnosed with a mild sprain in his left shoulder and will not be reassessed until a week has passed.
Atlanta Hawks 114-121 Houston Rockets
Houston Rockets are one of the teams of the moment. The return of Fred VanVleet has brought order, and the Texas side look far more formidable than a year ago; so much so that they have won every game so far.
While Kevin Durant is unquestionably the leader, with 22 points tonight, the Rockets are showing off a collective game that means as many as seven players in double figures. Against that, not even Jalen Johnson’s outstanding display of 26 points, 9 rebounds and 16 assists was enough to bring the Hawks close to victory.
Denver Nuggets 141-135 New Orleans Pelicans (OT)
Denver has played two games, but it feels like they are carrying the baggage of the past. The Pelicans were giving them a beating, trailing by 23 midway through the third quarter, but amid whistles and boos Denver rallied to force overtime and ultimately prevailed in it.
In individual performances, Nikola Jokic did his thing with a triple-double of 35 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists, while Jamal Murray was the top scorer for the Colorado side with 42 points.
The Louisiana side’s case is curious: in their three games they have come close to winning every time, but have lost all of them. Yes, they are one of the teams that could drop to the bottom of the standings far too soon. And what did Zion Williamson do? 17 points, while top scorer Trey Murphy III had 26.
Phoenix Suns 131-122 Golden State Warriors
The clash between two sides in need has ended in victory for the Suns, who did not waste the 43 points from a lethal Devin Booker, who also chipped in 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
The Suns were the better side in a game without Stephen Curry for the Warriors, who at least are confirming the high level of their rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who stood out with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
Counting all their games as defeats, keep an eye on Golden State, who could find themselves among the worst teams of the 2026-27 season if they are not careful.
