The Portland Trail Blazers have lost Vit Krejci to injury, one that looks set to keep the Czech off the court for some time. The guard has suffered a fracture in his left leg that is expected to sideline him for a few months, although for now the Oregon side have not given official details on how long his absence will be. In fact, information is rather scarce, as even Micah Nori was unable to be particularly specific.

The coach limited himself to saying that Krejci had suffered a fracture in his leg or ankle, leaving the situation awaiting official confirmation that has not yet been given. Initially, the Blazers pointed to the ankle as the problem that prevented the player from returning to the game against Phoenix, but it seems that, once the situation was assessed, it has turned out to be more complex than anticipated.

The injury happened with two minutes left in the third quarter, in a play in which Miles Bridges collided with the Czech in transition and brought him down to the floor. At first, nothing out of the ordinary, but Krejci’s obvious signs of pain soon revealed that something had happened. And the longer he took to get up, the more the Blazers began to fear the worst.

The guard had to leave the arena on crutches, and he becomes the third Portland player after Shaedon Sharpe and Ja Morant to suffer what we presume will be a lengthy absence. The Oregon side are not short of depth in the backcourt, but it is undoubtedly a setback for them not to be able to count on such an efficient shooter, even if he had not started the season at a high level.
