Before the 2026-27 NBA season began, some thought these Chicago Bulls could do well, while others were convinced they were heading for a very difficult year. We are not going to play fortune-teller after two weeks of competition, but what is certain is that there are practically no untouchables, with Norman Powell one of the first who could go.
In Illinois they know full well that the current project (roster) is a long way from what they want to be. It is not that they do not trust their players or look down on them; they simply want to shape something new, having landed a fantastic player in Caleb Wilson in the draft.
The rookie is dazzling in his first steps as a professional thanks to a game that combines a polished technique with the intensity so necessary when you play in the best basketball league in the world.

Against that backdrop, it is Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report who reports that the Bulls are already seeking offers in exchange for one of their most sought-after players, Norman Powell. The plan is not to trade him in a hurry – they must wait until at least 15 December – but to take the best opportunity between now and the trade deadline in February, so they are already listening to proposals.
Norman Powell, a fleeting signing
That is undoubtedly how we can describe it. Practically moments ago, in July, the Chicago Bulls landed Norman Powell in free agency on a two-year, $45 million deal. The move seemed a good one given the player’s level, but even then there were doubts about whether he really fitted what they wanted to build.
It is worth remembering that we are talking about a player who has averaged more than 20 points for three seasons (20.3 in the current one) and who undoubtedly has a market. So, with the Bulls sunk in the Eastern Conference at 1-6, they are now thinking not about what he can give them on the court, but about what they can get in return. We will have to wait and see.
